The claim check

Is this claim file ready to go?

The claim check reads the whole file the way a careful assessor would, then shows what is missing, what does not add up, and what to fix.

Live now for burst pipe and leak claims

How it works

Five steps, one record.

01

Send

Add the documents, photos and scanned pages in the claim file.

02

We read

Each item is read and the key facts are pulled out: dates, readings, quantities, who is who.

03

We rate

Every check comes back red, amber or green, with the page or photo behind it.

04

A person confirms

An assessor confirms the evidence and the findings. Until then, nothing counts as green.

05

Send or fix

Nothing is released while a problem is open. A record of the decision is kept.

What it checks

Ten things, in the order a claim happens.

From the first call to the decision to send. Each of the ten has around ten smaller checks, 100 in all.

The order

A claim, in order.

Every claim follows the same order. Each stage has a checkpoint, and the next one does not start until the last is on the record. Shown for a burst pipe or leak claim.

Stage 1 of 5

First call and timeline

What is recorded
  • Who, what and when
  • Claim and policy details
  • Date of loss and when it was reported
Before the next stage

The claim is identified and the timeline adds up.

Covered by: Check 1
Stage 2 of 5

Make safe and find the cause

What is recorded
  • What caused the water
  • Where it travelled
  • Moisture readings and drying steps
Before the next stage

Cause, spread and drying are shown before repairs are planned.

Covered by: Checks 2, 3 and 5
Stage 3 of 5

Inspect the damage

What is recorded
  • Damage, room by room
  • Which damage the event caused
  • Why each repair is needed
Before the next stage

Every item of damage is tied to the event, with the reasoning shown.

Covered by: Checks 4 and 6
Stage 4 of 5

Scope and price the work

What is recorded
  • Scope of works, line by line
  • Quantities and prices
  • Variations and who approved them
Before the next stage

The scope and the price agree, and nothing is priced that was not scoped.

Covered by: Checks 7 and 8
Stage 5 of 5

Review and sign off

What is recorded
  • Anything that does not add up
  • What could go wrong, in plain terms
  • Sign-off by a named person
Before the next stage

Nothing is released while a problem is open or unconfirmed.

Covered by: Checks 9 and 10
What it will not do

It never decides the claim.

  • It does not decide cover. Exclusions are the insurer's call.
  • It does not score a file to cut a payout.
  • It does not release anything without a person confirming.
  • It does not state what the evidence cannot show.

We are starting with burst pipe and leak claims. Other claim types follow once this one is proven.
